Daytrips from Brinnon...

Spoiler.... everything is about an hour away, but there's lots of options about an hour away.

PORT TOWNSEND

About an hour away, Port Townsend feels like a booming metropolis from a charming bygone era. If you're looking for the quintessential cute shopping and dining experience in an old port town, this is your spot. You can easily spend a day here, wandering shops and parks. Or hey, get a manicure. And if you want to cook at home after your adventure, The Food Co-Op (yes, that's the name) is a wonderful grocery store for organic and artisanal goodness.

POULSBO

Poulsbo is a ridiculously cute little Scandinavian town that looks like it was ripped out of an old children's book. About an hour away, there are loads of cute shops and restaurants, not to mention great views of mountains, water and boats. Lots of reasons to come here. It's also home to the best HUGE grocery store on the planet, the Town and Country Market there. The deli section alone makes it worth the trip. But if you need a big grocery store, you may as well go to Poulsbo and get in the cuteness as a bonus.

OLYMPIA

Olympia, also about an hour away, is the state capitol. It's also a thriving port town, arts center, has museums, parks, shops, restaurants. And if you're on a college tour, that's where you'll find renowned Evergreen State College, which spreads it's college-town vibe throughout town. It is totally worth your time to visit Olympia and see what's up.

SEQUIM (pronounced "skwim.")

About an hour-ish from our place, you'll find Sequim, which is world-famous for it's lavender festival. Sequim is in the rainshadow, and is the sunniest place in Western Washington. It has a cute downtown, and often has farmer's markets, art fairs and other things. Check out their site to see if there's anything going on that sounds fun to you. There's less to do here than other places, unless there's a festival going on, but there's often a festival going on.

HOODSPORT

Hey, Hoodsport is only half an hour away, but not without it's charm. It's just small, so it's more like a half-day trip than a daytrip. The very small commercial strip has a great coffee shop - which also has ice cream and sandwiches - and some cute shops. Including a distillery, if that's your thing. We're not big drinkers, but I can vouch for their gin, which I love. And, again, this is your closest "real" grocery store. It's small, but pretty comprehensive. 30 minutes South on 101, you literally drive right through it.

PORT ANGELES

About an hour and twenty minutes away, Port Angeles is the biggest "City" on the Olympic peninsula. A real boom town compared to the rest of the sleepy, charming towns. But it's still charming and quaint and all the things you want for spending a day wandering, shopping, eating, drinking and chilling. There are also fishing outfitters that operate out of Port Angeles, and a quick Google search will probably help you find them. You can probably find anything you want or need here, including a ferry to Victoria, BC! Their tourism page is a good place to start.
