The benefit of a guide who's been fishing these waters for 4 decades is that they generally know where the fish are, and what they want. PALLIN' AROUND CHARTERS
Yes, of course our favorite boat folk also do this! They have a wonderful half-day crabbing charter out of Pleasant Harbor. They provide all the gear, you'll go out together and drop pots, then enjoy some adventures in the "canal" (that's really a fjord) and go back and check your crab pots. You get to experience all the suspense that us locals grew up with. Will there be crabs? Won't there be crabs? Either way, you'll have a great time. Get in touch with them to book it.
HOOD CANAL ADVENTURES
Crabbing from a Kayak? Of course! Hood Canal Adventures provides the gear and the experience, but you get to power your own boat and pull your own pots. And, of course, spend hours enjoying the "sea puppies" (also known as Harbor Seals, but you'll soon see why the locals call them "sea puppies"), views and maybe an Orca!? This is a peaceful and direct way to enjoy a classic local past time.
If kayaks and crabs aren't your thing, they also have an Oyster Harvesting tour that keeps you on land (though not dry) and will teach you everything you need to know about harvesting the world's best oysters.
